Only 2 miles from Waren Mill is the village of Bamburgh and its proud castle. Resting on Northumberland's coast and over looking Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle gives you a glimpse of the region's historical past. Other castles dotted around the area include Warkworth Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle and the famous Alnwick Castle (which stars as The Hogwarts Academy in the Harry Potter movies!)
Less than 15 miles away from Waren Mill is the ancient market town of Alnwick. Alnwick not only plays host to Northumberland's most famous castle, it is also the location of the hugely popular Alnwick Gardens. Within the gardens there are a number of great features, including the Grand Cascade, the deadly Poison Garden (home to some of the world's most poisonous plants) and Europe's largest tree house!
Another of Northumberland's ancient treasures is the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall. Built around 117 AD, Hadrian's Wall once marked the northern edges of the Roman empire in Britain. Stretching 76 miles from Newcastle Upon Tyne to the coastline in Bowness in Cumbria, it's a lasting testament to Northumberland's rich history.
